TRAMA :
Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) ha eluso la cattura per oltre un decennio. Ex agente dell'Intelligence e uno dei migliori uomini al servizio della CIA, Frost ha rinunciato alla sua attività per tradire il governo americano e vendere i segreti militari in suo possesso al miglior offerente, provocando danni incommensurabili. Una volta catturato, Frost ha promesso la rivelazione di un segreto e, per metterlo al sicuro, gli Stati Uniti lo trasferiscono in una casa protetta, la safe house del titolo, che si trova a Weston, in Sud Africa. Un gruppo di mercenari riesce però a raggiungere la residenza e distruggerla. Frost fa appena in tempo a scappare in compagnia dell'agente Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds), sua guardia, trasferito da poco in Sud Africa. Ma scoprire chi ha mandato i killer è diventata una priorità assoluta, per capire chi è che lo vuole morto.
